Abhishek Rai MD is a full-time American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certified psychiatrist in California. After graduating from his medical school at Delhi University (University College of Medical Sciences) in India in 2009, Dr. Rai moved to the USA. In a brief stint at Mayo Clinic Rochester MN (2010-2011), Dr. Rai gained first-hand experience in the department of psychiatry. After that, Dr. Rai joined the child psychiatry unit of the New York State Psychiatry Institute (Columbia University). Dr. Rai moved to Michigan after that to complete his post-graduation degree in psychiatry at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. Livonia Michigan. After completing his residency, Dr. Rai worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre for three years and served as the medical director in 2018.
Dr. Rai is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Rai has completed several psychiatric publications to his credit and has presented several posters and case reviews on different psychiatric disorders at national and international level. Dr. Rai has made prolific contributions to Integrative psychiatry through his meticulous analysis of ‘Ashwagandha’ and its benefits in enhancing and supplementing current mental health treatments. Dr. Rai has presented a webinar on yoga and its impact on the prevention and treatment of mood disorders. During his term at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Rai also completed a research study on the effects of Mindful-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on the stress levels of behavioral health Employees.
Dr. Rai has also completed a certification course in Eastern medicine (Ayurveda) from the California college of Ayurveda as Dr. Rai firmly believes in integration of ayurvedic and allopathic medicine for the better prevention and healing of chronic disease. To help patients in a holistic way and be an expert in Holistic medicine and psychiatry, Dr. Rai has successfully completed a fellowship in Integrative medicine from the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM). In the pursuit of becoming an expert in Integrative mental health, Dr. Rai also completed his Integrative psychiatry fellowship from the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Denver (IPI).
Dr. Rai currently treats patients for various psychiatric conditions like depression, Mood disorder, and Anxiety. Dr. Rai has a unique way of amalgamation of Western medicine and eastern medicine approaches in a very individual way to every patient. Dr. Rai firmly believes that treatment starts with medication and helping his patients with ongoing psychiatric symptoms, but complete healing is a journey that requires healing of Body, Mind, and Spirit. Dr. Rai helps his patients with evidence-based modalities and tools for holistic healing.
